Department of Gastrointestinal Health – Immunology, Nestlé Research Current research focuses on how mammalian host genetics and signals derived from commensal microbial communities shape innate and adaptive immune responses at multiple tissue sites as we age. More recently, we become interested in targeting immune-related cellular and molecular pathways dysregulated in old age. Employing state-of-the-art technologies and model systems we investigate efficacy of such approaches to halt or restore age-related declines in immunological, physical and cognitive fitness. Whenever possible, translational approaches are used to verify age-related functional declines in cellular and molecular pathways in experimental model systems.
